Using The Therapeutic Touch when Caring
How do we all do it? Through all the assignments, readings and studying the nursing students are still going strong. I am not sure how we do it but we are a very strong group. Some of us have families and either part time or full time jobs which makes coping with school that much more difficult. Speaking from experience every needs to find their own time to do something “brain-less” meaning it does not require much effort. I work seven days a week while attending the nursing program full time here at UOIT. It is difficult but with the right amount of “me time” it is manageable. Trying times or not, it will be worth it. Hang in there guys !
At the beginning I was unsure at what I wanted to pursue throughout my post secondary education. Applying for various programs I settled in on the Human Kinetics program at the University of Windsor. I quickly learnt that that was not what I wanted to do and took half the year off to re-focus and work. After several friends and family telling me that I had a very nurturing personality and that I would suit nursing I decided to apply for the program. I then started reflecting on past caring experiences and remember when I was in the hospital at the end of grade 7 for back surgery and remembered how awful the care the nurses provided was. I wanted to make a difference.
